Nearfield Studios

We have 5 playing areas including the control room, to give maximum separation. Although the areas are fairly small, through research we found it more functional than one main area.

Area 1

The Control room, 3.1m x 4m with sight lines to the 4 playing areas. The Control room has views looking looking across fields over to the Black Isle.

Area 2

Vocal/Overdub booth 3.1m x 2m, part of the Control Room. This room is perfect as it's more or less completely 'dead' and ideal for vocals, spoken word or broadcasting.

Area 3

Main playing area 3.5m x 3.4m is mainly semi live with a 3.5m diffuser wall. There is enough space for a 5 piece band if necessary however as it looks onto area 4 either the drums can go in there or a guitar amp. This room has sight lines into the Control room and into area 4.

Area 4

Can be used for drums or overdubs, 2.5m x 2.5m. This room can fit an 8 piece drum kit(racked) and can either have curtins round it for a dead sound or with them removed and the carpet removed the room becomes 'live' as it then has stone floors, brick/glass walls and a 3.5m ceiling.

Area 5

2.5m x 1m, very live as it has a tiled floor and walls! Great for 'live' vocals or for miking uo an amp. Room can be used when a band is playing in the main area for separation

There may be a 6th area if required. Our family dining room is nearby and has wooden floors and high ceilings. Perfect for strings, drums or vocals.
